The new home entertainment center.

This is an entertainment center not my new computer.
This is an entertainment center not my new computer.

The 20' iMac struck of as a perfect piece to aggregate all personal home entertainment. What tipped me was frontrow. Long time ago I had the Performa 5300 with built in TV and that was already a good solution at the time. I got the wireless keyboard and one use case will be to Karen use it for her surfing. Having her compute in the living room is more social and the rest of up can enjoy music. I also really like how one can connect speakers in different rooms through AirTunes, this will bring music to the dining room.

Hey Christian, mine exact one came in last night with TNT. Still can't figure out excatly the UI, but what indeed tipped me at Steve's keynote was FrontRow (which is not that great after trying it), the slimmer & slicker design, and the integrated iSight (not that great either).

All in all, maybe my next choice will be a bi-pro or quad-pro, since I'm only using it for the moment for some video editing, and HD 1080i capture is time consuming (currently importing at 1/8 speed, instead of the 2x - 3x I was expecting...).

But nice for watching DVDs on my desk indeed!

Looks like this one is an answer to Microsoft's Media Center Edition!

Hi Christian! the new iMac is fantastic, I got myself one in May (the revision B) and it is all working so smooth! Great to see how you are doing! Cheers, Michiel

Great choice Christian, that's an excellent workhorse and my main tool besides the portable PowerBook and backend Linux server!

Now if only Nokia would understand how IMPORTANT it would be to allow USB access to the N-series memory so that iPhoto and iTunes could sync seamlessly with the phone with just a short AppleScript...

(And I'm sure you are already familiar with Salling Clicker?)
