My new iPod Touch going Rogue?

Ipod_touch The strangest thing happened yesterday. I was demoing the new generation of iPod Touch to my friends and for some amazing reason most of the apps did not work, they simply do not start. This got me thinking. I have not registered this iPod. The reason was I was thinking to give it to a friend, but in the end he was getting a new one so I will keep this one, I sold my first gen one.

I restored an older copy of my iPod Touch onto the new touch from my MacBook Air, which itself is a gigant MacTouch, so not my content mothership, which is at home in London, since travelling I have not had a chance to sync it to that. It has been more than 10 days since I set it up. I wonder if the iPod Touch goes rougue if one does not register it to the iTunes?

UPDATE: Thanks for the tip of downloading another app, it did not do the trick ;-( What did the trick was registering, so seems that Apple really want you to register the device. I don't mind.

I had this happen to my G2 Touch. The solution? I had to download another app!

That's right. My built-in Apple apps worked fine, but not the downloaded one, until I downloaded another app from the app store. Then everything worked again!

I don't think that registering the iPod Touch will make a difference. A hard reset probably helps (press on/off switch together with menu button for a few seconds).

Same problem here... in the past I always just downloaded an app again... but I'm away from home with no high speed wifi access. I've tried turning on/off, reset, and a hard reset but no luck. There is now a 2.2 software update for the iTouch - but I'm not doing it over dialup. Apple has said it's not a hardware issue when apps suddenly stop working - it's on their site - but it doesn't have a solution. I'm hoping 2.2 fixes it. Has anyone installed the software update and had it stable?

Same here. I have the 2.2 update and I just bought my iPod Touch a week ago... good thing I still have the receipt. This sucks. It's like iTunes 7.0 all over again.
